9XR schematics?

Come here to speak about the new 9XR Transmitter !!

9XR schematics?

Postby ShowMaster » 02 Jan 2013, 11:47

Being that this TX case is being sold as a composite of the work posted on forums dedicated to adding features, as well as HK's personal "tweaks", when will the schematics and board layout be posted?
If this product is going to be further developed by its owners it will be easier if guess work is eliminated.
The possibility of adding telemetry and a voice option as has been done to the 9X makes a schematic important.
Please post the schematics so the upgrades can begin.

An additional reason to post board layouts, part numbers, part values, as well as detailed schematics is the fact that the more the forum community knows, the more it can help repairs.
This could save many from returning their radio to HK for repairs even durring any warrenty period, even better later.
There's nothing secure about this radios design to keep secret. It's close to the 9x and that info is common knowledge. You didn't actually create the FW, just used FW that again was created by others and I'm sure you won't offer much support for it, but others may!
The programming and programming wiring is also not your original design but instead "borrowed" from work posted on other forums.
So there should be no reason to NOT share your information with the persons that are purchasing your product! You're not revealing any design secrets of your own.

Will just save us having to work it out ourselves!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Hobbyking said the software for the 9XR was the colaborative work of forum-goers (which it is), with their tweaks added on.
The hardware remains their design (I understand it's quite similar to the 9X, which is a rebranded radio - so the hardware for that isn't even Hobbykings).

They may release the schematics to help out with modding, but don't act like they're morally obliged to do so.

The case it their design.

The internal circuit board looks to be almost identical to the regular 9x. But cant be 100% certain.

well as far as I understand, it is not.. what for is that multiplexer IC? the 9x doesn't have it. and this is just an example

A schematic would be a great thing! I could see a memory mod, or a color screen mod, or even... who knows! I really think that releasing a schematic would sell more units (not that it is a problem). Why could we not install a computer (like an android board), and make an autonomous mode? Anyway, if someone reverse engineers the workings, post it, please!

There's really no secrets here and nothing to "reverse engineer". Giving up the schematics harms HK nothing, it just makes it a LOT easier to work on and play around with.

That's why it's just dickish to not release them.

I'm having problems getting my 9XR to boot up, after working perfectly for several days. I'm getting power in all of the obvious places I've checked, but a diagram would sure come in handy. I guess I'm going to have to look into returning this one and trying my luck with another. I'd much rather fix this one that I've already waited 5 weeks for delivery of.

I'm having the same issue it seems. Unplugging the battery and then back in seems to get it to boot again but more recently I've noticed something else. If I switch on while pushing on the 4-way pad the radio often boots. I'd like to know why this is though.

The design of the type of soft tv remote buttons used to perhaps keep the price low allows that to happen. You can push/close all 4 connections at the same time. Something not normal.
One fix is to add a small bump or piece to the circuit board directly below the center on the cross buttons. This causes the buttons to rock when pushed and doesn't easily allow all the buttons pushed when the center is pressed.
That or just be careful and make an effort to only push at the outer edge, never in the center.
This after all is a $50 tx case, not a rtf system, and HKs first attempt at a new design. I'm sure they're aware of some design flaws and hopefully will do better with the next version. Yes, I'm sure there will be a next version just not when.
